Fashion is everywhere

Stockholm based beauty Caroline Sandström – fashion and beauty editor for Metro and Metro Mode AND freelance stylist – has that admiringly simple Scandinavian style figured to perfection. As a beauty editor she comes across the newest products and craziest trends, but manages to stick to her favorites. Time for a beauty talk.

“I love make up, I think it can be very fun, but when it comes to my own style I like to keep it simple and natural. I don’t like to use too much and only put a little bit of mascara, highlighter, eyebrow shadow and an eyebrow gel. The eyebrow gel I am currently using is from Eyeko which is amazing as it is both cheap and good. When I go out I mostly go through the same routine. Sometimes I add some eyeliner or eyeshadow, or I try out a trend.

As a beauty editor I bump into the craziest things people do to improve their skin. Recently I heard about something called a vampire facial. Apparently Kim Kardashian does it. Personally I am not really a fan of all the craziness. For my own skin I stick to creams, serums and fluids. I am obsessed with the fluids from Babor, a French brand. They have fluids in a glass jar that you have to break and put on your face, giving it a super quick boost. The best thing is that they have all these different types, like Vitamins or Stop Stress. It also reduces the bags under your eyes. I use them once a week and every time I do so people complement me about my skin, this is something I would recommend everyone.”

“For my evening routine I just started using Bioderma Créaline H2O. I clean my face with it and it’s really good. Furthermore I love Aesop, I have their Fabulous Face Cleanser, their B & Tea Balancing Toner and their Elemental Facial Barrier Cream. These are the only products that work well for me and I have literally tried everything. The Hydra Beauty Sérum from Chanel is also a favorite, which is some sort of water serum, and it is really refreshing.

I am also a fan of facial masks, especially the Glam Glow Power Mud. As the name says, it’s a mud you put on your face. You let it dry on your face for twenty minutes until it gets hard. The mud turns into the same color as your face it is kind of weird. It makes you look really creepy, haha.”

“My favorite perfume is Black Opium, I absolutely love the scent. Velvet Orchid by Tom Ford is what I usually wear when I go out for dinner or something. It is a bit heavier and richer, perfect for in the evening. Byredo Bullion is something I actually really like on men, but wear it myself because it is so good. I think it is unisex and I really like to wear it.

I have really curly hair and for the past 10 years I have been straightening it. The down side about straightening is that my hair turned really dry and has split ends. I use Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo, which softens my hair and seems to put the split ends back together. I love it, but it is really expensive. I don’t like to wash my hair everyday as I don’t like the way it looks on the first day. Once a week I use a hair mask. When I don’t have the time in the morning or I when I go out for dinner, I use Byredo Hair Perfume, which I keep in my bag. I also use Osis+ Dust It, a hair powder to add some volume.

I don’t really have a beauty icon, but I really like Anja Rubik. I like the way she looks, her skin, her hair, her glow and how she wears make up or nothing at all. I really like girls and women who embrace their natural beauty and who walk around without make up. To me that’s awesome. It is kind of French in a way.”
